Riding for his home team Mexico Amigos, Nicolas has also represented Mexico at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2010 World Equestrian Games [WEG] in Lexington, KY, United States of America. He and his wife Rocio run Cuadra Macaria. His grandmother initially set up the facility as a horse breeding farm. In 2022 he relocated his business from the facilities of the Mexican Defence Ministry in Mexico City to his own farm between Mexico City and Toluca.
