Situated on the Mediterranean Riviera, Monaco is squeezed into just 200 hectares and after the Vatican City is the world's smallest country. It is smaller than Central Park in New York and is unique in that there are no rivers flowing through it.
Though its history stretches back to prehistoric times, modern Monaco is defined by its unparalleled affluence and iconic skyline. The deep blue waters of Port Hercule serve as a stage for the world’s most impressive superyachts—a setting so cinematic it famously served as a backdrop for James Bond’s GoldenEye. This same harbor transforms annually into the high-octane circuit for the Formula One Grand Prix, an event that draws a global elite to the Principality’s shores.
Despite possessing the world's shortest coastline at just over two miles, Monaco makes a vertical masterpiece of its terrain. Its steep, tree-lined streets are carved into the hillside, hidden gems of luxury boutiques, chic cafés, and refined bars. Along the shore, exclusive beach clubs offer a sun-drenched escape, while the southern cliffs of the "Rock" house the charming Old Town and the majestic Prince’s Palace.
The city’s glamour is deeply intertwined with Hollywood royalty; the prestigious Avenue Princesse Grace honors the American actress Grace Kelly, who became the beloved Princess of Monaco. Intriguingly, while the Principality is world-renowned for its opulent casinos and a population boasting over 12,000 millionaires in less than a square mile, the citizens of Monaco themselves are famously forbidden by law from gambling—preserving the casinos as an exclusive playground for the world’s travelers.
