WELCOME TO BERLIN

Berlin is the capital city of Germany, and its largest city, and is the most populous city in the European Union. It is steeped in history with famous monuments including the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Funkturm tower. The city is often considered to symbolise unification, and Berlin's vibrant cultural scene makes it one of the most visited cities in the world.

The city is also known for its art scene and modern landmarks like the gold-colored, swoop-roofed Berliner Philharmonic, built in 1963. Berlin is home to 3 world class and active Opera Houses, which can accommodate over 4,400 opera attendees, more than in any other city in the world. Berlin also has over 150 theatres and halls for every type of event.

Berlin straddles the banks of the River Spree, which flows into the River Havel (a tributary of the River Elbe) in the western borough of Spandau. Berlin is considered by many as Germany’s greenest city with over 44% of its area made of waterways, woods, rivers and green areas. It is also home to 3 Unesco world heritage sites - the Museum Island, Sansoussi Palace and Parks in Potsdam and the Modernism Housing Estates.

In the west side of the city visitors should take a look at the broken shard of the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche, which serves as a brutal reminder of World War II. Close by starts the boulevard Kurfürstendamm with the famous KDW Kaufhaus des Westens and Galerie Lafayettes.

    Zoo Berlin:

The Zoo celebrates its 175th birthday and is the oldest one in Germany. With around 20,000 animals from more than 1,000 species, it’s the most important collection in the world. The Aquarium Berlin is one of the most important public aquariums in the world. The zoo has a big cat house, a hippopotamus house and a nocturnal animal house, as well as the biggest bird house in Europe. Give your family a treat and take them to Berlin’s famous zoo.

    Schloss Charlottenburg:

The magnificent Charlottenburg Palace is located just out of the centre of the city. The beautiful palace hosts fine collections of china and paintings and is situated in the middle of a picturesque palace garden right next to the river Spree. If you don't fancy a walk in the park, you can feed your mind instead of in the Charlottenburg museums located directly opposite

    Shows & Musicals:

The range of shows and musicals on offer in Berlin is impressive, with dazzling spectacles ensuring visitors are thoroughly entertained. The historic CHAMÄLEON Theater in Berlin-Mitte, with a glamorous art nouveau façade, puts on variety and musical shows in the cabaret, musical and circus traditions. The Wintergarten Varieté by Tiergarten is another glitzy venue with performances in the vaudeville tradition, while the Friedrichstadt-Palast is particularly great for international visitors, with its globally-themed shows incorporating mesmerizing dance and lavish design. Entertaining musical classics are shown at the traditional Stage Theater des Westens, Berlin's oldest musical theatre.
