As the fourteenth stop on the Longines Global Champions Tour, the penultimate showdown of the tour heads to the bright lights of New York City. As the trend setting capital of the United States of America, New York City hosts the tour for the 2nd time, welcoming both horse and riders back to the iconic location of Governors Island.
Under the watchful eye of the Statue of Liberty and with the backdrop of the iconic Manhattan Skyline, the best horse and rider combinations the world has to offer will battle it out for podium position. In the city that never sleeps, spectators will be treated to the newly crowned World Champion, Henrick Von Eckermann taking to the arena as well as home grown heroes Georgina Bloomberg, Lillie Keenan, McLain Ward, Spencer Smith and many more.
With iconic sights such as the Empire State Building and Times Square, the epicentre of the arts such as The Met and MoMA, coupled with world class sporting showcases such as the Longines Global Champions Tour, New York City offers a smorgasbord for all.
As a 172-acre water-front paradise, Governors Island will once again play host to the New York City leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour. Nestled in the heart of New York Harbour in one of the most famous cities in the world, Governors Island is just moments from the Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn waterfronts.
For almost two centuries’ Governors Island operated solely as a military base and now operates as a unique public destination a short ferry ride away from the bustling foreshores of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. With unparalleled natural, historic and waterfront resources, Governors Island is on its way to being activated as a sporting, cultural and rich arts mecca for locals and visitors to enjoy.
My vision is clear. Only the best for the best.
