The Longines Global Champions Tour of Shanghai has come to a close. Marking the tour’s return to China, Shanghai saw three days of world class showjumping at the incredible newly built Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Centre.
Riders and fans alike were in awe of the purpose-built venue. Nestled in the heart of the city, this state of the art venue is China’s first permanent professional equestrian venue and first 5* arena. Riders were treated to world-class facilities such as an expansive indoor warm-up arena featuring a screen displaying all of the action in the main ring. Their horses were just as pampered, with permanent stables and a daily carrot delivery. Winner of the LGCT Grand Prix of Miami, Michael Duffy said, “the facilities for the horses are, I think, without a doubt the best I've ever seen.” After their podium finish in Shanghai, Doha Falcons rider Jérôme Guery remarked on how truly incredible this venue is.
The sold-out stadium was electric each day of the competition. Edwina Tops-Alexander, LGCT Champion and 2nd place winner in Shanghai, said, “the public has been unbelievably supportive. They’re really into it.” Fans experienced an event like no other in this incredible venue in Shanghai’s EXPO Cultural Park. In addition to the venue’s International Horse Art Centre and International Jockey Club, complete with fine dining and a beauty centre, fans had the opportunity to visit the sprawling shopping village, offering unparalleled shopping and a gourmet food and beverage selection.
As the excitement from an incredible weekend winds down, riders and fans are already looking forward to returning to Shanghai next season.
