The 2023 Season Launch Pad: LGCT Doha

Preparations are in full swing for the 2023 season, with all eyes on the first event of the year – the Longines Global Champions Tour of Doha.

For the fifth year running, the AL SHAQAB equestrian facility in Doha, Qatar, will be the stage for the electrifying opening leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL season.

As the ultimate launch pad, the state-of-the-art facility takes the LGCT & GCL into the heart of metropolitan Middle East, following the success of the 2023 FIFA World Cup. Having joined the tour in 2008, the LGCT of Doha is one of the longest standing events as a favourite for domestic and international competitors alike.

Speaking of his impressive win at the 2021 LGCT of Doha, podium veteran Ludger Beerbaum spoke of his memorable performance: “I have had a few wins in my career but this one is probably one of the most emotional ones and also not really expected one. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy this moment. That was definitely our best jump-off ever. I am so happy, I still can’t really believe what happened. It is because of a lot of reasons that this is extra special. Of course it’s about the horse, it’s about our performance but honestly, I did not expect to be here on the podium.”

Stage one of the 2023 season will kick off in style from 2-4 March, with tickets going on sale soon! An impressive program of events and competition ensures something will be on offer for the whole family, promising a fun-filled day out.
