Showjumper Spotlight: Laura Kraut talks about how to build relationships with your horse

We catch up with Madrid in Motion’s Laura Kraut in this episode of Showjumper Spotlight!

As the third day of show jumping in Mexico City gets underway, we’re chatting with an Olympic gold medallist and true legend of the sport Laura Kraut! Based in Wellington, Florida, Laura has been a familiar face on the Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL for many years, and this year she’s joined a new team - Madrid in Motion. That puts her shoulder to shoulder with riders she has followed since they were competing on the pony circuit, just one of the unique and brilliant things about the GCL. 

We asked Laura all about GCL, what it’s like being part of Madrid in Motion and who she’d pick to get stuck on a desert island with! Hint – it’s the man she calls MacGyver and he’s a fellow Olympian! Plus, we asked Laura about her relationship with her horses, and her response is both heart-warming and insightful. It’s still her Olympic gold medal-winning ride Cedric who holds the most special place in her heart, and she echoes other top riders in reiterating the importance of a strong relationship with the horse to succeeding at this level.
