Michael Duffy takes the top spot in CSI5* Third Individual Class 1.50m presented by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation

Over 30 riders went head-to-head in the CSI5* Third Individual Class 1.50m presented by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation on day 3 of the GC Riyadh Playoffs. Ultimately, Ireland’s Michael Duffy claimed first place aboard Claptonn Mouche.

9 riders qualified for the jump off in this afternoon’s 5* individual class presented by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation. Michael Duffy flawlessly navigated the course with his 12-year-old gelding. The Irish rider flew over the finish line to secure first place with a time of 38.27 seconds. “It was a good start to the day,” said Duffy, “Claptonn Mouche is no stranger to those jump offs so it was good and quick and felt right for us today.” When asked about how he feels going into tonight’s LGCT Super Grand Prix, Duffy said, “I’m feeling good. Quirex jumped very well last night. He feels great and he has plenty of experience, I don’t think they can build anything too big for him. So now we just have to roll up our sleeves once more and give it a go.”

Last to go in the jump off Celine Schoonbroodt- De Azevedo looked to be on the hunt for a win as she set off on course aboard the 11-year-old Deesse des Embruns. The Belgian rider came home clear but could not quite catch Duffy, stopping the clock at 38.47 seconds. Germany’s Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann found a good rhythm with High Level 6. The German rider delivered a beautiful clear round to secure third place.

Eoin McMahon of Ireland made quick work of the course aboard Kokomo B. The pair came home on a clean sheet to earn fourth place. Rounding out the top five was Denis Lynch and Mr Boombastic. The Irish rider soared over the jumps aboard the 10-year-old gelding, coming home clear to secure a fifth place finish.
