Meet your 2022 LGCT Champion of Champions – Ben Maher

Meet your 2022 LGCT Champion of Champions – Ben Maher

In what has aptly been labelled his Trifecta of Championships, the ever-consistent Ben Maher wrote himself a page into the history books taking out his third Longines Global Champions Tour Champion of Champions title.

Not managing to secure top podium position throughout the 2022 season, Maher’s ever consistent team of champion horses brought their A-game week in and week out, resulting in a season littered with impressive results and ultimately securing the title. With Olympic Gold, European Silver and many team medals under his belt he really is the best of British.

In a sentiment echoed among the show jumping fraternity, 2022 Championship race second place getter Pieter Devos paid homage to the newly crowned LGCT 2022 Champion of Champions in a press conference in Riyadh: "We must recognise a really true champion in Ben Maher, what he did again this year is truly fantastic".

Talking about his phenomenal season victory Maher smiled: “It feels a little bit surreal. The whole Global Tour really pushed the sport to the next level over the past years and I’ve taken part in many legs and am thankful to be involved. It has been great sport with all the best horses and riders in the world here and Christian and Pieter really pushed it to the end."

As the first ever rider to secure three championship titles, relive Ben’s 2022 season with us, watch below!
