Max Kühner Closes the Gap to Aznar in the 2024 LGCT Championship Race

After an unforgettable stop in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez, the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour championship race heats up as we prepare for the LGCT of Cannes June 6-8.

Max Kühner’s win in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Ramatuelle, St. Tropez sees him close the gap to championship leader Eduardo Alvarez Aznar. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar maintains his lead thanks to his third place finish in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez but Kühner is closing in. Aznar now holds just an 18 point lead over Kühner with the riders sitting on 162 and 144 points, respectively.

Christian Kukuk stays steady in third place on the leaderboard after the LGCT of Ramatuelle, St. Tropez. The German rider sits on 116 points, but LGCT Grand Prix of Ramatuelle, St. Tropez winner Maikel van der Vleuten is putting the pressure on, now just 5 points behind Kukuk.

The GCL championship also sees the rage get tighter after a thrilling weekend in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez. The Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames maintain their lead thanks to their epic win last weekend. They now lead with 117 points going into their home competition in Cannes this week. The Stockholm Hearts hold on to second place with 107 points thanks to their podium finish in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez. The team will be eager to hold on to their spot in the standings as they look forward to competing in front of their home crowd in Stockholm later this month. A second place finish in Ramatuelle, St. Tropez for Madrid in Motion was enough to move the team into third place with 102 points.

Still to come is the GCL Mid-Season Transfer Window. During this time, and only this time unless there is a medical exception, teams can transfer a maximum of three riders. This period is where we see the ultimate shake-up of the GCL teams. A strategic choice can see a struggling team revived, while a well-oiled team could lose their footing if the choice of transfer backfires. Follow all of the action live and on demand on GCTV to see how it all plays out.

The stage is set for a thrilling show jumping showdown in Cannes. Join us as the tour heads down the Côte d'Azur for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of show jumping.
