It was a thrilling competition in the CSI1* 1.40m Trofeo Exterior Plus at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Madrid. Spectators witnessed an impressive line-up of over 40 riders vie for the top spot.
Portugal’s Martim Portela De Morais wowed the crowd in Madrid with a flawless round, claiming the top spot in front of an enthusiastic crowd aboard his chestnut stallion Jamal F. When asked about his win, De Morais remarked, “I was in the 1* but it felt like I was in the 5*. The arena is fantastic with the jumps and the ambiance all around it. My horse jumped incredible. I hope I can repeat this one day!”
In second place was Pilar Lucrecia Cordon of Spain skillfully piloted her 11 year old mare, Noblesse du Palis, through the beautiful grass arena. Hot on her heels was was Argentina’s Martin Dopazo aboard Carlina Z who put in a quick, clear round to earn third place.
Close behind was Isabel Coxe of the USA, riding Jumper d'Oase, who secured fourth place with a quick, clear round aboard the grey gelding. Juan Ignacio Alvarez Fermosel of Argentina rounded out the top five, putting in a smooth clear round with his horse Too Action de Buzalen.
