Hall of Fame: The Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome

The Longines Global Champions Tour heads to Rome for the fourteenth stage of the 2024 tour as the world’s best riders prepare to battle it out in the Circus Maximus. As we look forward to an epic weekend of competition in the Eternal City, we look back at the past winners of the LGCT Grand Prix of Rome.

The Longines Global Champions Tour first touched down in Rome in 2015. That year, Swedish show jumping star, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson claimed victory aboard Casall ASK. In 2016, Dutch talent Harrie Smolders rode to the top of the podium with his mount Don VHP Z N.O.P..

2017 saw the trophy handed back to Sweden as Evelina Tovek narrowly claimed victory over Smolders aboard Castello. British show jumping sensation Ben Maher claimed back-to-back wins in Rome in 2018 and 2019 riding Explosion W.

Following a brief break due to Covid-19, the tour was back in the Eternal City in 2022. That year saw the trophy go to the talented Christian Kukuk aboard Mumbai, beating out two-time winner Maher.

Last year, world number one Henrik von Eckermann soared to victory in Rome aboard King Edward, claiming a victory for Sweden once again.

As final preparations are under way for the penultimate stage of the tour, all eyes are firmly fixed on Rome. Will Christian Kukuk claim victory once again in Rome? Or will a new name be etched into the history books in the Circus Maximus? Join us in Rome as we witness show jumping history in the making.
