The preparations are underway for the Longines Global Champions Tour of London. As we look forward to the twelfth stage of the 2024 season, we take a look back at the past winners of the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London.
The Longines Global Champions Tour first headed to the British capital in 2013. That year saw British show jumping sensation Ben Maher aboard Cella narrowly beat out show jumping icon Nick Skelton to claim first place. In 2014, the trophy once again went to a British rider, with Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos claiming an incredible victory, coming home over five seconds faster than second placed Ludger Beerbaum.
2015 saw Rolf-Göran Bengtsson of Sweden take the top spot aboard Casall ASK. Bengtsson narrowly claimed the win by just 0.08 seconds. In 2017, the tour was back in London and British talent Scott Brash claimed his second LGCT Grand Prix of London victory, this time aboard Hello Forever. Brash came back full force in 2018 riding Hello Mr President, earning back to back wins and his third LGCT Grand Prix of London title.
Brash is not the only rider to have secured repeat wins in the LGCT Grand Prix of London. Fellow countryman Ben Maher took home the trophy for a second time in 2019 aboard Explosion W. In 2020, the top spot went to Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet and Nevados S who claimed victory in a jump off of twelve riders.
Swedish show jumping icon Peder Fredricson claimed the win in 2021 aboard Catch me Not S, narrowly beating out British show jumping legend John Whitaker. In 2022 the trophy was handed back to Belgium as Pieter Devos took the top spot aboard Toupie de la Roque. Last year saw an epic jump off as American talent Jessica Springsteen and Don Juan van de Donkhoeve won by less than a second, claiming the first LGCT Grand Prix of London win for the USA.
As we look forward to the LGCT of London, we eagerly await to learn who will emerge victorious in this year’s LGCT Grand Prix of London. Can Scott Brash claim an unprecedented fourth win in London? Or will a new name be written in the history books at the Royal Hospital Chelsea? Join us in London for what is sure to be a nail-biting show jumping battle in the heart of the city.
My vision is clear. Only the best for the best.
