Eduardo Alvarez Aznar Takes the Lead in 2024 LGCT Championship Standings

A new leader has emerged in the Longines Global Champions Tour of 2024, with Eduardo Alvarez Aznar emerging with a narrow lead over the competition in Miami Beach.

Against the iconic backdrop of Miami Beach, the world’s top show jumping talent faced off in the second stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour 2024. With nine clear rounds in round 1, Ireland’s Michael Duffy and Claptonn Mouche were the sole double clear in the jump off, securing their victory in the LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach. Austria’s Max Kühner and EIC Cooley Jump finished two seconds faster but accumulated four faults over the liverpool. Eduardo Alvarez Aznar of Spain aboard Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot also came in faster than winner Duffy, but unfortunately also fell victim to the liverpool, accumulating four faults to finish the weekend in fourth place.

Relive the action

Aznar’s fourth place finish in Miami Beach was enough to propel him to the top of the leaderboard of the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix Standings. When asked about how it feels leading the championship race with his mount Rokfeller, Asnar said:

Rockefeller is 19 and it is probably his last season, so it means a lot for me. He’s in really good shape. He jumped fantastic in Doha and here in Miami. I am very happy with his performance and he looks fit and in good shape for the rest of the season.
- Eduardo Alvarez Aznar

The top 3 in the LGCT Championship Standings are now Eduardo Alvarez Aznar in first, Max Kühner in second, and Christian Kukuk currently in third place. Aznar holds a one point lead over second place Max Kühner, with both riders set to compete next weekend in the third stop of the 2024 championship race in Mexico City.

Will Aznar be able to hold on to his lead in Mexico City, or will a new leader emerge in the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour Championship Standings?
