After a spectacular stop in Paris, the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour has reached the halfway point of the season and the championship race is heating up.
Spanish sensation Eduardo Alvarez Aznar has proved to be untouchable this season as he maintains his lead in the LGCT Championship standings after an impressive eight stages. Aznar took hold of the lead after stage two in Miami Beach and has maintained a commanding lead ever since. The Spanish rider sits on 162 points after the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris. Germany’s Christian Kukuk has maintained his second place position and Austria’s Max Kühner has held on to third. Kukuk and Kühner sit on 148 and 144 points going into the tour’s ninth stage at the LGCT of Stockholm. Following the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris, the top ten have gotten tighter and will be putting the pressure on the championship leaders as the second half of the season unfolds.
The GCL championship has seen the Stockholm Hearts powered by H&M We Love Horses extend their lead going into their home competition in Stockholm. The Stockholm Hearts sit on 162 points and will be eager to maintain their lead in front of their home crowd this weekend as they seek a repeat victory in Stockholm. A podium finish in Paris sees the Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames hold on to their second place standing with 157 points.
Following a victory in Paris, the Doha Falcons have catapulted themselves up the leaderboard, now sitting in third place in the championship race as the season reached the halfway point.
At the next stage in Stockholm we will witness how the newly revealed GCL Mid-Season Transfers have played out. Teams were allowed to transfer a maximum of three riders. A strategic choice can see a struggling team revived, while a well-oiled team could lose their footing if the choice of transfer backfires. With 16 transfers across 12 teams, all eyes will be on Stockholm for the GCL competition to see the revamped teams ride together for the first time.
The stage is set for an epic showdown in Stockholm as the world’s top riders prepare to take on the second half of the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour. Don’t miss a moment of what promises to be an epic weekend of show jumping in the heart of Stockholm.
My vision is clear. Only the best for the best.
