Christian Kukuk Jumps into Second Place in the 2024 LGCT Championship Race

After an incredible stop in Cannes, the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour championship gets tighter than ever as we prepare for the LGCT of Paris June 21-23.

Eduardo Alvarez Aznar has proved a force to be reckoned with this season as he maintains his lead in the LGCT Championship standings after an impressive seven stages. The Spanish rider sits on 162 points. Following the LGCT Grand Prix of Cannes, Germany’s Christian Kukuk has jumped into second place ahead of Austria’s Max Kühner. Kukuk and Kühner sit on 148 and 144 points going into the tour’s eighth stage at the LGCT of Paris.

The GCL championship has seen a shakeup of the standings following an epic showdown in Cannes. The Stockholm Hearts powered by H&M We Love Horses have claimed the top spot in the standings following their win in the GCL of Cannes with 137 points. The Stockholm Hearts have taken the lead over the Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames, who up until this point, had held on to the lead in the standings since the start of the 2024 season.

The Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames now sit just one point behind the Stockholm Hearts. They sit in second place with 136 points. A podium finish in the GCL of Cannes for Madrid in Motion sees the team hold on to their third place standing with 123 points.

Still to come is the GCL Mid-Season Transfer Window. This period, between the eighth and ninth stages of the tour, is where we see the ultimate shake-up of the GCL teams. It is during this time that teams can transfer a maximum of three riders. A strategic choice can see a struggling team revived, while a well-oiled team could lose their footing if the choice of transfer backfires.
