The sun is shining in beautiful Cannes for Day 1 of the Longines Global Champions Tour of Cannes. Arnaud Fontenelle secured another win for France in the CSI2* 1.40m class presented by Bord Sol.
Arnaud Fontenelle took the top spot aboard Gim's des Fresnes. When asked about his win, Fontenelle said “today, the course was really fluid to ride and it was fair for the horses. It’s the first time I come to Cannes. It’s incredible to ride in this arena and in conditions like these.” He went on to say how spectacular the location is, remarking, “with the sea next to the show, we nearly feel like we’re on holidays. That’s why I’m here with my son so we can enjoy it all together.”
Close behind Fontenelle was Georgina Bloomberg of the USA. Bloomberg delivered a flawless round riding Copernicus to secure second place. Arnaud Fontenelle took not only first place but third as well. The French rider claimed third place with his 9 year old mare, Figa de Gree.
In fourth place was Romain Potin of France. Potin posted a quick, clear round aboard his mount Quinta D to take fourth. Rounding out the top five was Mexico’s Martina Franco Stephan riding Douce Emeraude d'Or. The Mexican rider came home on a clean sheet to secure fifth place.
