The 13th stage Global Champions League took place in Rome at the Circus Maximus as the Berlin Eagles, powered by Fundis Richsport, jumped their way to the top of the championship standings, leapfrogging the Stockholm Hearts, powered by H&M.
In this episode of The Insider, hosts Marc Lewis and Frederik De Backer look at how the Eagles moved two points clear and how, after their victory, the London Knights have now entered the race for a Top Four finish.
Lewis: "This points turn around surely must be unprecedented, never seen before."
De Backer: "Berlin Eagles have now gotten onto the podium four stages in a row. If they podium in New York, that will be five in a row, a first in GCL history."
The Knights won their first stage of the 2022 season, and with it, moved up to fifth on the championship standings. Mike Kawai: "Finally I have jumped clear to be on the podium and we won so I am super happy. This feeling is amazing, I cannot be happier!"
This week's three Star Jumper nominees were also unveiled for standout moments and performances this weekend:
Sam Hutton
Jur Vrieling
Lillie Keenan
The GCL next moves to New York for Stage 14, the penultimate stage of the year, from September 23rd-25th. To find out more about the Global Champions League, watch this week's episode of The Insider on GCTV!
