The final of GCL Cannes kicks off today and there have been lots of tactical discussions to decide the best combinations to put forward for each team.
Interestingly like last week in Hamburg half the field has chosen to keep their teams exactly the same as round one including the top four New York Empire, Madrid In Motion, London Knights and Hamburg Giants. The other fifty percent have made some dramatic changes in the hope to pick up some points.
Elsewhere in the field five of the teams have decided to swap in a fresh new horse and rider. Home team the Cannes Stars will be substituting Margie Goldstein-Engle for Abdel Said and his 10-year-old Venise Du Reverdy. Karel Cox will stay on Evert who he jumped a clear on in round one.
Currently lying at the bottom of the leaderboard Valkenswaard United are the team mixing it up the most today. Bertram Allen will change to ride GK Casper and Marcus Ehning will sit this one out to see if teammate Alberto Zorzi can produce a clear on Danique. Last week’s winners the St Tropez Pirates keep the very consistent combination of Edwina Tops-Alexander and California teamed up with on form Pieter Devos riding Espoir.
Ranking leaders the Shanghai Swans opt to make no changes, they keep their extremely strong team of Daniel Dessuer with Callisto Blue and Peder Fredricson on H&M Christian K.
With two teams on a clean sheet and four teams just on four faults, it is all still to play for. Will New York Empire be able to stay on top and claim their first win of the season? To find out tune into GC TV at 18.00 local time to watch all action live.
