GCL Cannes: Movers and Shakers

The GCL Cannes final kicks off today, and there’s been intense discussion around strategy and tactics as to who will ride for this crucial round.
Incredibly 16 of the 19 teams have opted to keep their rider line up the same for today’s GCL Cannes final, including the top three - Prague Lions, Miami Celtics and Chantilly Pegasus.
However elsewhere in the field there have been some strategic changes; anchor Edwina Tops-Alexander comes off the bench for the St Tropez Pirates, teaming up with Pieter Devos - a rider who is looking on incredible form at the moment. Maikel van der Vleuten will substitute in for his father Eric, teaming up with Michael G Duffy for Madrid in Motion, and home city team Cannes Stars will field last year’s LGCT Grand Prix of Cannes winning rider Sergio Alvarez Moya alongside Piergiorgio Bucci.
Montreal Diamonds will bring out the big guns with two horses changes - Jos Verlooy riding top stallion Caracas, and World Number 1 Harrie Smolders using his Olympic mount Emerald for this leg of the Championship.
Can the Prague Lions duo of Niels Bruynseels and Ales Opatrny convert their pole position into a win, or can Miami Celtics achieve redemption to topple the Lions from the top spot? Or will another team rise to the lead, as seven sit on a score of four faults.
