Last year the Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL circuit travelled to The Americas with a visit to the stunning capital of Mexico City. The 2019 running of the event saw incredible displays of horsepower, precision and speed as Jérôme Guéry pulled off a breathtaking win in the LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City, and Shanghai Swans were on top form to take the title in the GCL of Mexico City.
Set at 2,250m above sea level, Mexico City is the highest location on the tour, and has an impressive and colourful history. Established by Spanish conquistadors in the early 1500s, the city was also the capital of the Aztec Empire. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, making the city a truly unique and dynamic location for thrilling show jumping action. The event itself takes place in Chapultepec park, which is twice the size of New York’s Central Park, and the expansive grass competition arena is many riders’ favourite stage for competition.
Take a look back at this stunning location and event from 2019 here, and we look forward to bringing you all the action from Mexico City later in 2020.
