Flashback: Best of Chantilly 2019

The Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL headed to the elegant town of Chantilly in the middle of the 2019 season. Chantilly is famous for its impressive, beautiful château, it’s premier racetrack and, of course, Chantilly cream, as well as being a renowned hub for equestrian sport.

Top class sport played out against the exquisite backdrop of the Château de Chantilly and the beautiful Grand Stables, which are surrounded by parkland, gardens and the Forêt de Chantilly. The event welcomed crowds from around the world, with an electric atmosphere around the stunning grass arena.

Irish speed merchant Darragh Kenny took his first ever Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix win aboard Balou du Reventon in a thrilling showdown. Following his win, a beaming Darragh said: “I knew I had to be really fast with so many good riders after me. He (Balou) is very careful so I knew I could trust him. He is an incredible horse and he always wants to be clear and tries so hard and my owner was here, she's an amazing owner.”

Meanwhile in the GCL team competition, there was edge-of-the-seat action to the final fence after Berlin Eagles’ pairing of Ludger Beerbaum and Christian Kukuk kept cool heads under enormous pressure to convert their pole position into the team’s first win of the season.
